On Thursday, September 6th Vancouver’s DTES community comes together for our 5th annual Alley Health Fair. Originally situated in the alley behind Carnegie Centre, the fair has expanded. Although the celebration starts in the alley behind Carnegie, it has grown. Wrapping around Carnegie Centre at Main and Hastings, the Alley Health Fair stretches along East Hastings Street and curves around Columbia Street.
From 10-2pm, music, wellness services, food and health promotion is offered from the organizations that provide services to people in Vancouver’s DTES. Funded by the Vancouver Public Library Foundation, the Alley Health Fair is a great way to promote and celebrate community, wellness, and health promotion. Past highlights have included Mayor Gregor Roberson peddling bike that needs human energy to create smoothies; dancing in the streets and face painting.
If you are an organization that would like to get involved with the fair, please fill in our application form. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmKJ8U_TFa79dEdhbmNlQWJaUlNWSk1ieGNCUnNaOEE
