It was one week ago that we celebrated good healthy living in the Downtown Eastside at the 7th Alley Health Fair on Columbia Street! The team has been reflecting on all the awesome people and organizations who contributed to this amazing day…
Thank you to the DTES Street Market team for set-up / tear down, the VCC Nursing volunteers, AIDS Vancouver volunteers, all of the organizations participating, the local businesses on Columbia Street, the donations from the Food Bank, the cooking and serving from WATARI, the smoothies from the DTES Neighbourhood House, bicycle repairs from Our Community Bikes… on and on! And did you see those amazing hair stylists and massage therapists from Beauty Night?!! Wow. Not to forget the funding from VPL Foundation and City of Vancouver. So grateful.
Even a very unfortunate fire in Chinatown did not deter the event! Although, a bit strange to have poor air quality at a health fair… At least the wind was in our favour!
We’ve had some excellent feedback both from guests (due to the feedback table hosted by the UBC Learning Centre) and from organizations attending. It sounds like Columbia Street was appreciated as a site, so this is good to know.
Keep on checking out the blog, as we are anticipating a video and photographs from AHA Media soon!
